Scientific specialist at the Inflammation Research Unit, Department of Molecular Medicine, SDU (AC-TAP) (full-time)

The Unit of Inflammation Research, Department of Molecular Medicine, invites applications for a full-time position as scientific specialist (academic staff member or special consultant).

Research profile and tasks

The position will be placed in the field of inflammation research, where we conduct research within immunology, focusing on both innate and adaptive immunity.

Specifically, this position will be associated with the flow cytometry core facility, funded through a major grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. The successful candidate will, therefore, be half-time associated with the core, driving and developing the flow cytometry facility in collaboration with other core personnel. This includes helping users and scientists plan and execute flow cytometry experiments, advising and training new users, and optimizing and developing novel staining methods. Among other instruments, the core has the following equipment: a Sony ID7000 Spectral Analyzer, a ThermoFisher Bigfoot Spectral Cell Sorter, a Miltenyi Tyto Cell Sorter, and a BD ARIA III Cell Sorter. 

In addition to working in the core facility, we expect you to participate actively in the work and research of the research groups of Associate Professors Yaseelan Palarasah and Jonas Heilskov Graversen. This includes some laboratory supervision of students, PhDs, and post-docs, communication with collaborators, and various administrative and minor organizational tasks.

Qualifications  

The successful candidate must hold an M.Sc. and preferably also a PhD in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, pharmacology, biomedicine, or a related field.

We are looking for a person with experience in flow cytometry and an interest in developing and establishing novel methods within the field. In addition, the ideal candidate would have experience with some of the following methodologies: antibody screening, biosensor technologies for characterizing protein-protein interactions, protein purification, ELISA, as well as cell culture and recombinant protein expression and purification.
