The Research Unit of Muscle Physiology and Biomechanics (https://www.sdu.dk/en/forskning/muskelfysiologi-og-biomekanik), Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics invites applications for a position as assistant professor in active and healthy aging to be filled as soon as possible and for a period of 4 years. The position includes research, teaching and supervision as well as research dissemination.
The Position
The position will be based at the Center for Active and Healthy Ageing which is strongly connected to the Research Unit of Muscle Physiology and Biomechanics (https://www.sdu.dk/en/forskning/muskelfysiologi-og-biomekanik). The Department of Sports Science and Clinical Biomechanics has a strong background in sports science with one focus being on active and healthy ageing and prevention of functional loss and disability and the candidate will be working with themes related to this field of research.
Besides developing an independently tailored research profile aligned with the research unit’s and the department’s strategies, the candidate will take an active part in research projects and engage in (multidisciplinary) applications for external funding, often in collaboration with other research partners, research units and/or departments.
The candidate will be engaged in teaching and supervision activities related to the bachelor and master programmes (https://www.sdu.dk/en/om-sdu/fakulteterne/sundhedsvidenskab/uddannelse) offered at the Faculty of Health Sciences (https://www.sdu.dk/en/om-sdu/fakulteterne/sundhedsvidenskab) , develop and manage courses and (co-) supervise students.

Qualifications
- A PhD degree and documented research work (i.e. peer-reviewed papers, conference presentations) that complies with the research profile described above
- Relevant experience within the field of ageing and epidemiology is considered a priority
- Documented experience in conducting and managing and evaluating research projects (a requisite for the job)
- Highly profiled and well-documented research experience related to the fields of exercise, physical activity, sedentary behavior and nutrition
- Hands-on knowledge of assessment of physical activity and sedentary behavior using self-report and objective methodologies (relevant qualifications)
- Additional experience with lab and field physiological and functional assessment methods (e.g. cardiovascular fitness, neuromuscular function) and knowledge about mix-methods (additional relevant qualifications)
- Good communication skills for scientific and non-scientific audience
- Documented teaching experience at the graduate levels mentioned above

The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
For assistant professors with a PhD degree, the minimum salary will be DKK 36,655 (equivalent to approximately EUR 4,910.40) per month before taxes.
