A position as postdoc (full-time position) is vacant at the Research Unit of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Department of Clinical Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark. The position is to be filled from October 1, 2025, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The position is limited to two years with the possibility of extension (one year) and is funded by grants from Novo Nordisk Foundation and Independent Research Fund Denmark (Principal investigator: Prof. Trine Munk-Olsen). 

Research tasks 

The postdoc will contribute to the TREAT2 project, which examines whether digital treatment of maternal postpartum depression also benefits child outcomes. Initially, the postdoc will focus on conducting register-based studies using national health and administrative data. As the iCARE trial progresses, the postdoc will take an active role in merging trial and register data and perform integrated analyses addressing the project's research questions.

The postdoc will collaborate closely with a PhD student and the broader project team and will contribute to the implementation and follow-up of the randomized controlled trial evaluating internet-based therapy for mothers with postpartum depression. The candidate will also contribute to data integration and scientific writing and help disseminate findings. There is no mandatory teaching in connection with the position, but opportunities for teaching and supervision can be arranged if desired.

Expectations of qualifications 

In addition to holding a PhD and meeting the previously listed criteria, we particularly welcome candidates with:

• Experience conducting epidemiological or clinical research related to maternal and/or child mental health.
• Proficiency with register-based data, ideally from Danish health or administrative registers.
• Familiarity with survey-based data collection and handling of longitudinal data.
• Skills in quantitative analysis using relevant statistical software (e.g., STATA, R, or SAS).
• Experience with multidisciplinary or collaborative research environments.
• Documented publication record in peer-reviewed journals relative to career stage.
• Ability to work independently and in collaboration with junior and senior researchers.

Description of the research unit

The position is based at the Research Unit for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, a growing, dynamic and collaborative environment located within the Department of Clinical Research at the University of Southern Denmark. Our research group includes experts from psychiatry, psychology, epidemiology, and public health. We foster a friendly, inclusive, and interdisciplinary work environment where early-career researchers are supported in developing their academic and professional skills. The unit leads several large-scale projects focused on perinatal mental health, child and adolescent psychiatry, and early intervention research.
